Los Angeles, CA (11/16/16) – Dive in with Splash and Bubbles 4-D Experience®! The Emmy® Award-winning Jim Henson Company (DINOSAUR TRAIN, SID THE SCIENCE KID) and Herschend Studios, the media arm of Herschend Enterprises (Dollywood, Harlem Globetrotters), have partnered with SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment to create an all-new animated 4-D Experience based on the new PBS KIDS preschool series Splash and Bubbles. This family friendly 4-D Experience is set to debut in April 2017. Like the series, this ocean-themed “immersive” experience will encourage children to explore the natural undersea world and will feature endearing and humorous characters on a fun-filled adventure.
“The collaboration with world-renowned companies like Henson and Herschend has given us the opportunity to create a 4-D Experience that is like no other. The show blends stunning special effects, a custom storyline and cutting-edge animation to produce a heart-warming and thought-provoking show the whole family will love,” said Mike Frueh, Senior Vice President, Licensing and Distribution, SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment.
Guests will join Splash, Bubbles and their best friends, Dunk and Ripple, on their exciting adventures beneath the ocean’s surface. Until Splash came along, Bubbles and most of the other Reeftown citizens had no idea what lived beyond the cozy confines of their coral walls. Together, they embark on a journey to explore the world’s undersea habitats and make new friends along the way! This epic undersea adventure will have you singing along with the diverse “citizens of the sea” – including whales, eels, turtles and octopi.
“The power of the partnership between Herschend and Henson is the unique ability for an integrated, multi-platform launch of Splash and Bubbles. The opportunity to partner with SimEx-Iwerks, the preeminent creator and distributor of 4-D Experiences, allows us to continue to realize this potential by bringing these ocean friends to life in 4-D. Our collaboration has produced an immersive 4-D Experience that will allow aquariums, science centers, museums, and other entertainment venues, including our own, to create one-of-a-kind emotional connections between kids and the ocean,” said Andrew Wexler, CEO, Herschend Enterprises.
The 4-D Experience is derived from the all-new Splash and Bubbles TV series, premiering November 23rd on PBS KIDS (check local listings). Unlike any other ocean-themed animated show, this series artfully dives into marine biology and ocean science to encourage kids ages 4-7 to explore diversity and the wonder of the undersea world. The show is already generating significant excitement in the entertainment community as it seeks to entertain while teaching individuality, interconnectedness and the celebration of learning.
